I can sympathize...
Had a car accident in 1983 and had my fourth surgery on my left leg in 2004. That one laid me up for 8 weeks followed by 8 more weeks in a boot and 4 months of physical therapy.
Here's hoping you're up and dancing again soon!

OUCH!!!! That sounds a damn bit nastier than my situation. Hope all is ok now after that process. Length of time is very familiar, but not severity of injury. damn man, that must have been BRUTAL!

At least im used to the physical therapy aspect. Been going for bout a year and a half for my bum ski knee - and wouldn't ya know - same knee is located on the leg i broke :) time to start over with my PT buddy.

The original injury was just a broken leg and crushed ankle. Now, time seems to be the biggest foe. They can't seem to repair the ankle adquately, so I get a build up of bone that eventually has to be removed. This last one was caused when I jumped off my tractor one Saturday and twisted the ankle. Couldn't walk the rest of the weekend and when I went to the doctor on Monday, he discovered that I had tore a tendon because the bone had grown around a ligament in my ankle. Plus, like High Flow said, as we get older, we don't heal as fast. (I am about three months shy of the big 4-0!?!)
Anyway, I don't post much, but read a lot and knew of your injury. When you mentioned the crutches today, I had to respond. (Plus I am bored at work...)
Well, best wishes and hope you get that boot!

JUST a broken leg AND crushed ankle, that's all?!?! Holy cow man! Let's send some healing vibes to dogsinapile!

I am soooooo bored at work! It's finally raining here in Chico, work is slow until January. So it's LMA, dl's, the gym and just everyday life. It's hard to fill the 8-10 hours/day in which I normally(9 months/year)work like a headless chicken. October-January, the biz slows to a trickle. I still have work to do. I still have to be at this desk when email or telephone requests come in, but I have time to type all day...

YOU POOR, POOR PEOPLE...!

Jesus dude - that just sounds horrid - i hope things are evening out in your ankle for you - i can just picture what is going on (unfortunately) - that is real rough. Mine is just a broken leg although the bone "halves" are sitting 50/50 against itself and at a 45 degree angle - hence the long time. If i stepped on it, it would be like snow sliding off the roof of a house. Will probably never be able to ski again :( not sure though.

Damn man - hope your situation is better now - thank you much for the kind thoughts - mine are extended to you as well. (pretty much same age too - im 41). We do heal slower in our AARP age group - lol. Thanks again man - i really do appreciate the thoughts.

Much too frah-GEE-lay(must be Italian) we are. AND, once old, repairs take far too long.

One day at a time sweet Jesus...(Bill Hicks).

Healing powers of group thought?? Everybody think warm thoughts about Dire's leg. Maybe he'll heel faster? Grand experiment...Vizualize wounds healing and cracked bones and tendons mending.

Cheers Dire!
